Endless fun, right on the doorstep
There’s always something interesting to do in Monte Bondone: The incredible Terrazza delle Stelle astronomical observatory on the Viote moor organises guided observations, concerts, evening picnics and storytelling sessions for children. The Vason area, home of the Brenta Dolomites, also organises a series of fun events including the Ferragosto ‘sagra’ food festival and the traditional New Year’s Eve torchlight procession led by the ski instructors.
With its packed calendar of events to suit all tastes and interests, the nearby Trento is a goldmine of leisurely activities.
April is the month of the Trento Film Festival, one of Italy’s oldest film festivals, with screenings of films dedicated to life in the mountains.
From mid-June to 26 June, the mediaeval-themed Feste Vigiliane in honour of the patron saint, St. Vigilius, animate city life with historical parades, reenactments, the Palio dell’Oca “Race of the Geese” raft race, and the exhilarating “Challenge of the Ciusi and the Gobj” reenactment of a 6th century battle.
From June to September, Trento Aperta offers an array of themed events, spanning cinema, music, nature, theatre, sports and history.
In October, the city’s events revolve around Autumnus, a festival showcasing the excellence of Trentino food and wine, which fills the most iconic parts of the city with tastings, exhibitions, family activities, show cooking sessions and workshops. October is also the month of the Festival dello Sport sports festival, with international guests, meet & greets with sporting champions and fun camps for all ages.
From the end of November through to Epiphany, the renowned Christmas market with its host of fringe events is a guaranteed to delight adults and children alike.
In all twelve months of the year, the undisputed star of the show is culture, in a vast array of temporary exhibitions, theatre performances, ballets and concerts.
